NEW DELHL, India, Oct. 3, Reuter: Police said they killed two generals of a Sikh group on Saturday in a gun battle in Punjab.

Repeating the same old story, the police said the Sikhs fired an automatic rifle and a shotgun at a police patrol which challenged  them as they were riding a motorbike near the Sikh holy city Amritsar.

Police identified them as Gurinder Singh and Manjit Singh, who held the ranks of Generals and Lieutenant General in the newly formed Khalistan Freedom Force.

Khalistan is the home of a Sikh state desired by the Sikhs. More than 900 people have been killed this year in violence related to the campaign.

Police were hunting the two men following the killing near Amritsar on Friday of three policemen and their driver.
