SANGRUR: Punjab won the title in the seventh Sub Junior Girls National Championship which concluded at Olympic Stadium at Sunam 15 km from here.

In the final Punjab girls trounced Uttar Pradesh 30 Kalpna Jaggi of, Punjab opened the account in the, .E7th minute by scooping the ball in the goal inan excellent manner. In the 22nd minute Kuljinder captain of the Punjab team scored another Boal to lead 20 at interval.

Despite best efforts of Uttar Pradesh to defend themselves and muster an attack they failed to reduce the margin, Rather to their surprise Kalpna Jaggi increased the tally by netting the third goal in the 54th minute,

Haryana bagged the third position while defending champions Maharashtra found themselves in a pitiable condition as they were placed 4 poor fourth, In a keenly contested match Haryana caused an upset by defeating Maharashtra 32 Meenashni of Haryana won thunderous spplausc when she scored two goals one afire the other in the second and 11th minutes. Nirmala further increased the tally by blasting the third goal in the 32nd minute, However Pridiniya and Mandra Sikhand of Maharashtra reduced the margin by scoring in the 50th and 1st minutes, respectively.

Earlier in the semifinals Punjab defeated Maharashtra 31 Rajpreet, Kalpna Jaggi and Kuljinder of Punjab scored in the 15th, 61stand 67th minutely respective, Tania of Maharashtra decreased the margin. Uttar

Pradesh defeated Haryana 31. Kalpna Srivastava Preeti and Rita Sarkar of Uttar Pradesh scored one goal each for their team while for Haryana Meenaskhi saved the honor of her team by scoring a goal.

The matches were played on a league cum knockout basis.

A total of 69 goals were scored during the championship and Meenakshi of Haryana emerged the best scorer of the championship. She scored 11 goals while Kuljinder of Punjab became the second best scorer by scoring 10 goals.
