NEW DELHI: Mr, Maurice Nicholas Secretary of the Asian Amateur Athletics Association refuted the claims of the Amateur Athletics Federation of India (AAFI) regarding the participation of Israel in the Asian Track and Field Meet here in November.
In a telephonic conversation Nicholas said, “AAFI has never consulted AAAA on the Israel issue.” Few days ago a news agency had quoted AAFI saying that “AAAA permission was granted for not inviting Israel for the Asian meet” Nicholas said there was no base in that news, Mr. Nicholas added, “It is India’s meet being held in New Delhi. It is India’s concern whether they invite Israel or not.”
Mr. Nicholas however, said “please don’t rake up the issue again. We have been facing this problem for seven years.”
