This world is caught between the problems of declining population growth in one hemisphere and its explosion in another. For example Rumanian politburo recently passed a special degree to encourage more births in order to fight rapidly declining population growth. “It imposed a substantial fine of $27 dollars a month on childless married couples and at the same time declared special concessions to those who have more than one child,” reported state run Alger press news agency.

Rumanians population growth has been declining rapidly in the past resulting in serious scarcity of its workforce. As a result, Rumania is forecasting serious economic crisis in the near future, because of the shutdown of factories and other developmental projects

On the other hand, China whose population has been growing at an. alarmingly dangerous rate, ordered special fines on the new couples daring to cross the limit of one child/couple. Forced abortions are also reported and criticized in Catholic dominated Western society. In one instance, a physician was penalized for removing IUD from a woman’s womb, who became pregnant afterwards. However, such coercive measures are being denied by the Chinese govt. There are signs of optimism that Chinese will be able to cut down its population growth according to its needs by the end of this century.

At the same time efforts are being geared up to find new, cheap, easy to use and effective contraceptives, Few weeks ago, Chinese scientists invented a new monthly contraceptive shot for male population. “This shot in the form of a chemical liquid is injected in his spermatic cord of a man, thus rendering him sperm free at least for 4 weeks,” reported an official Chinese news agency.

Over here in the USA the growth is also zero, but new efforts are in offering to find new and easy ways for contraception for those women who are afraid of being pregnant. The contraceptive which can be administered nasally has been reported recently. Several women are currently undergoing trials with the analogs of a brain hormone abbreviated as LH RH. This hormone, if administered by nasal spray, can block ovulation. If the results are satisfactory, then this can prove to be a safe method of contraception in future.

On the other hand, Indian government is not paying much need attention to the alarmingly rabbit like population growth. Though superficially, they have launched various programs, in order to carb this manmade crisis, but at the core of its heart Indian Govt wants to see the country overpopulated; thus poor India, appears to be a heavenly dream for Gandhi’s Cong. 1, which had thrived on the sufferings of its citizens since Independence of this country. In fact Indira Gandhi never believed in Garibi Hatao (remove poverty) but in fact her slogan in private was Garibi Wadhao, Mujjhal bachao (increase poverty and thus save my chair).
