NEW DELHI: The Congress high command has decided to ask the Minister of State for Internal Security, Rajesh Pilot, who recently emerged as leader of “Young Turks” in the party about the veracity of some of his statements made at Punhana in Gurgaon district and Faridabad in which he reportedly criticized the party leadership on the Ayodhya and other issues.

A serious controversy seems to have been created in the party due to these critical statements. The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal, was also quoted in certain newspapers that he had urged the party high command to take action against the curing minister.

Whether Bhajan Lal demanded action against Pilot or not, supporters of P.V. Narasimha Rao are upset over the sudden outburst of Pilot on sensitive party matters, particularly at a time when they were fighting a bitter battle against the expelled leader, Arjun Singh.

Pilot was quoted as having said that he was warned the Prime Minister, P.V.Narasimha Rao, about the imminent demolition of the Babri Masjid are Ayodhya soon after his return from Luck now, but his warning was ignored. This statement has come at a time when the Prime Minister is already facing strong criticism from Arjun Singh on the subject

Pilot reportedly explained to all those who contacted him that his warning on December 4, 1992, to the government was a matter of record in Parliament. He said that he had made a statement in the Lok Sabha soon after his return from Luck now when the Prime Minister and the BJP leaders, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK. Advani, were sitting in the House.
