CHANDIGARH: Mr. Bhajan Singh is a broken man because he has been unsuccessful in tracing his son, Dr. Santokh Singh (49), who is reported ‘missing since December 11 last.

The old man and his family allege that their son has been “eliminated” by the Doraha police, Frantic search with friends and relations and numerous representations to powers that be and even after registration of a case at Payal in Khanna police district there was yet no sign of Dr. Santokh Singh

According to the father, his son (Dr. Santokh Singh) and his two other friends, Dr. Jaswant Singh and Dr. Jagjit Singh, all three working as ag. nculture development officers in the State Agriculture Department at Ludhiana had gone together LO Samrala to attend a wedding of the daughter of one of their colleagues, Dr. Harbans Singh Dhillon. While the other two returned home the same night (December 11) Dr. Santokh Singh did not

As per the written statements released to the Press along with copies of the FIR and representations to the authorities concerned, it is pointed out that after consuming liquor the three friends boarded a private bus for Ludhiana around 6:45 pm. While Dr. Santokh Singh alighted at Isher Singh Chowk at Doraha, the other two travelled upto the G.T. road stoppage. There the three were separated. From enquiries made by the family from Doraha, it transpired that in the tipsy state Dr. Santokh Singh lay on a cot near Anaj Mandi and on being spotted by a woman, who raised the alarm, ho was allegedly beaten up and handed over to the police around 10:30 p.m. that was the last time he was seen alive.

The family members alleged that the police had “eliminated” him and being guilty of the crime were shedding the culprits, who were none else than the four policemen of Doraha police station. The complaint against them mentions their names as well. The four include a Sub-Inspector, a constable, one special police officer and a home guard volunteer.
