FRESNO: Cremation ceremonies were held for Lie + tenant General Dr. Jasbir Singh in Fresno on November 6, 1995. He was assaulted by three men while he was on his regular walk on the evening of November 1st. He suffered severe head injuries; He was born in Lahore, Pakistan in 1942. His father s in Ropar, India, and is a practicing physician. Dr. Singh received his MBBS from Patiala in 1966, He joined the army as surgeon in 1971 and He served for 20 years, and was actively involved in the Bangladesh War.
He took premature retirement from the army to immigrate to the United States for a better education for his two children, His daughter Binita is studying at Fresno State, and his son Paul is at Ohio State. His wife, Satwant, is an employee of Bank of America.
Dr. Singh worked as a lab technician for two years in the U.S, and was recently teaching at Community College for the medical assistant program, The Singh Family has relatives in the Fresno and Bay areas.
