NEW YORK: The Punjab Hu man Rights Organization (PH RO) has established its U.S. Branch and set up its offices at New York and Washington D.C.

An Adoc Executive Committee of 13 members was formed here yesterday at a meeting by the PHRO General Secretary, D.S. Gill who is on a tour of Europe and North America. The meeting held in New York was attended by more than 50 members.

At the dinner meeting the representatives of the International Hu man rights Committee of the New York Bar Association; the Legal Support Network of the Amnesty International USA and the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights were specially invited as observers. Ms. Mary Pike, the defense counsel of Ranjit Singh Gill and Sukh minder Singh Sandhu who are facing extradition proceedings, was also present.

Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Dr. Ran jit Kaur Grover, Bibi Gurbax Kaur and Dr. Rajinder Singh Bajwa were appointed President and Vice Presidents of the PHRO branch, USA, respectively. Mr Pritam Singh Grewal as Director (Coordination) Mr. Harsimran Singh Sabharwal as Director (Administration) and Dr. Harbhajan Singh Nayar as Director (Legislative Liaison) have been appointed officials to run the New York office.

Dr. Rajwant Singh, Mr Amrik Singh Kaisth and Mr. Ajit Singh Mangat have been taken into the Executive as Director (Parliamentary Liaison), Director and Associate Director for Administration to run the Washington D.C., office and to coordinate the PHRO activities with the Parliamentary jans, U.S, officials and other Hu man Rights Organisations in the National capital. While Mr. Rajinder Singh Dhal iwal and Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Bajwa were nominated as Regional directors for Los Angeles and Boston,

The General Secretary, Mr Gill, while thanking the guests from the American Community urged all the Sociopolitical Organizations especially of the Sikhs to extend their full cooperation to the PH RO network and, in reciprocity the PHRO branches overseas are committed to create liaison.
