ISLAMABAD: One year after she made history as the world’s first Muslim woman Prime Minister, storm clouds are gathering over Benazir Bhutto as she rows a shaky political boat battered by Opposition waves, PTI reports

Bhutto, 36, who completes one year in office Saturday, faces an Opposition, which has recovered from the shock of last November’s elections and become both powerful and increasingly ruthless.

Much of the Prime Minister’s energy has been devoted to countering opposition charges and in trying to consolidate the support of a slender majority in the national assembly.

She had to deal with a major Political threat by the combined Opposition parties to unseat her last month. The opposition, which lost by a narrow margin to carry ‘Out its on confidence motion on November 1, is now preparing ground to make another attempt to topple her government.

Besides these major political problems, crucial issues like price rise, unemployment, drug abuse and population explosion continue to plague Bhutto with no early solution in sight.

When Bhutto came to power on December 2 last year, women in the country felt their legal, social and economic rights would be restored to them.
