JAMMU: The federal home (interior) minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has said that Pakistan was fighting a war by proxy in Kashmir and “we are determined to frustrate their designs at all costs.”

Addressing a meeting of officers, most of them from the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in the state, late Tuesday evening, the home minister said the security forces had done a commendable job by recovering large cache of arms and ammunition which showed that it was meant for causing large scale devastation and “we have been able to check the infiltration to the optimum level.”

The minister expressed the hope that the situation in Kashmir would soon improve and the migrants would be able to return home.

In the meantime he said, it was the “sacred duty” of the people of Jammu to look after the welfare of migrants.

Sayeed said the civil administration must also ensure that the pace of progress did not slacken.

He said “we should ensure that all regions of the state get justice and no region should get a feeling of being ignored in the field of socio economic development.”
