CHANDIGARH: Punjab Director General of police K.P.S. Gill has been awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India.

The award is one of the high civil honors which the Central government can bestow.

Meanwhile Justice S.P. Bajaj of Punjab and Haryana High Courtdirectred J. Rebiero Adviser to the Governor of Punjab and Y.S. Ratra the secretary to the Governor to appear before Gursewak Singh Sewak a Judicial Magistrate in Chandigarh in Rupan Bajaj criminal assault case. The court however held certain documents sought by the complaint to be produced by Rebiero and Ratra before the magistrate to be termed as privileged documents which could not be placed before the court.

Amar Singh Chahal council for BR. Bajaj, husband of Rupan Doel Bajaj argued before the Punjab and Haryana high court that the documents in question were not privileged because they were published in various newspapers on different days after getting information from Raj Bhawan and other government agencies. He further argued that the said documents had already been seen by the court and as well as by the councils of both the parties. Mr. Chahal repeated the contents of Rebiero’s note written by him to. The Governor. Rebiero had cited the cases of former Chief Secretary LC. Puri and a D.1.G who were prematurely retired on similar charges.
