CHANDIGARH : One Nihang was killed on the Sangrur Road when two groups of Nihangs clashed under the Mithana Police Station on the evening of April 4, 1986. Mr. GIS. Bhullar, senior superintend of police, told that the group was going to Damdama Sahib, The clash took place between the groups of Baba Amrik Singh and Baba Santa Singh. Baba Amrik Singh was announced Jathedar of Budha Dal by the All India Sikh Student Federation and Damdami Taksal. Curfew was imposed in Garh Shanker in Hoshiarpur District last night following a mob violence, Mr, Amar Singh, Deputy ‘Commission, told that the suspected freedom fighters walked into the Mohalla Chora at Garh Shankar at about 8:00 p.m. yesterday and began an indiscriminate firing with four or five revolvers. Mr. Dharmvir Gandhi, a Shiv Sena worker, and Mr. Shiv Bhatti, a government employee were wounded seriously. The gunmen escaped under the cover of darkness, ‘The wounded persons were taken to the civil hospital in Hoshiarpur and then moved to P.G.I. Both are said to be in a very serious condition. After the shooting incident a mob of Shiv Sena circled the police station, blocked the traffic and exploded crude bombs, Three bombs were also thrown at the police station building, Mr. Hardial Singh, D.S.P., Mr. Gurdev Singh, and Constable Mr. Santokh Singh were injured in the blast.
