NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar led Janata Dal (S) Monday failed again to finalize its election strategy including the question of alliances with other parties as the chief ministers of northern state of Uttar Pradash and western state of Gujarat did not tum up for a meeting of the party’s eight-member election committee

The meeting which was to take place at the residence of party president Devi Lal Monday was originally scheduled for Sunday when the party held its first election rally in the capital. Two chief ministers Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chiman Bhai Patel who are reportedly at odds with the party’s leadership did not attend both rally and the meeting. The Janata Dal (S) has decided to contest all the 54 lower house (Lok Sabha) seats in Bihar in the ensuing elections.

Stating this state Janata Dal (S) chief Raghu Jha said he held discussions with Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar here for finalizing party’s candidates.

A final decision about candidates would be taken within this week Jha said.

He said his party had improved its image among the masses.
