BOMBAY, Reuter: A 44Year-old Indian man claimed the record today for non-stop typing, pounding the keys of a manual typewriter for more than five days.

Shambhoo Anbbawane typed. For 123 hours to beat the old record of 120 hours and 15

 Minutes set in 1969 by Mike Howell, a blind office worker from Man- Chester, England, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Anbhawane, who began his typing career when he was 19, took painkillers and vitamins through- out the marathon effort.

He started typing at 60 words per minute (WPM) but managed only 15 WPM in his fast hour for an average of 24 WPM.

Under the rules he was allowed a five minute break each hour furcating, washing, going to the toilet and sleeping.

Anbhawane repeatedly typed 2 speeches, interspersed with Hindu religious sayings to give him strength and ward off .He struck the keys 806,000 times.

Anbhawane, a commission typist, earns about 2,000 rupees (15¢ dollars) a month,

“I am overjoyed” he told reporters as he struck his last key.
