CHANDIGARH: The Akali Dal (Mann) condemned the decision of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a fundamentalist Hindu organization to begin construction.

In a joint statement here, the party president Simranjit Singh Mann, and Sant Singh Teg, President of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Dal said VHP’s plan to ignore decisions of the high court amounted to a disgrace of judicial system.

The dal warned the VHP leadership in a resolution of its working committee that if they did not desist the deal would be compelled to support the sentiments of the Muslims.

Mann appealed to the right wing Bharitya Janata Party leaders, to desist from supporting the VHP.

Mann said he appreciated the efforts made by the Prime Minister, VP Singh for deciding the Babri Masjid dispute through negotiations with concerned parties.

The Akali Dal (Mann) JK unit, welcomed the decision of the Punjab governor, Virendra Verma, to hold elections to SGPC. The Akali Dal Mann has created a national united minority front on the suggestion of the intelligentsia from different parts of the country, party president Simranjit Singh Mann said.

Mann said the front had been formed to create confidence and trust in all the minorities and would include Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, and scheduled castes.
