NEW DELHI: The president of the Ludhiana unit of the Hindu Shiv Sena and his securitymen are among the five held by the police in North West Delhi’s Ashok Vihar on charges of criminal intimidation. A car being used by the group has been confiscated by the police.

Those arrested are Manoj Dhiman (22) who heads the Ludhiana unit of the Shiv Sena his two securitymen Constable Jaspal Singh (23) of the Punjab Police and Constable Gurtej Singh of the Punjab Home Guards: 35-year-old Avtar Singh of Ashok Vihar and Malkiat Singh a 25-year-old from Ludhiana.

The police who have charged the lot with criminal intimidation and trespass said the policemen had been disarmed and their superiors informed “about the misuse of security staff by Manoj Dhiman police claimed that Avtar Singh one of the five arrested had earlier been involved in cases under the Arms Act and TADA and was released on bail recently.

According to tie police Avtar Singhs brother Kashmer Singh had lent money to one Narender Chadha of Ashok Vihar. Police claimed that Avtar wanted Chadhato to return the money to him. It is alleged that Avtar and Dhiman known to each other along with the securitymen and Malkiat Singh turned up at Chadhas house Oct.16. When Chadhas watchman refused to open the gates the group threw stones and threatened to kill the watchman claimed police.

Police said the group which departed on Friday night after issuing threats returned to Chadhas house on Sunday evening.
