THIRUVAVANTHAPURAM,I: The recent floods in the south ernmost Indian state of Kerala claimed 69 lives, including 12 children, according to the latest official figures available here in the state capital.

The floods had affected 7,80 lakh People. Of the 55,554 families evacuated 43,9292 had been lodged in the 672 relief camps opened, an official Press release said.

A total 11,895 houses had been destroyed while 27,968 houses had been damaged. The floods had affected 325 villages.

It said there was no report from anywhere of a break out of epidemics. Medicines worth Rs. 1600,000 had so far been supplied to those lodged in the relief camps it said.
