CHANDIGARH: The Panthic Committee and four militant organizations affiliated to it have owned responsibility for recent breaches caused in the Bhakra Mainline canal as well as the Indira Gandhi canal and warned that the Sikh militants will no longer permit exploitation of Punjab’s wealth by the Indians.
In a statement circulated here the panthic committee and the four organizations said that they had also blasted a tower transmission near Kakrali village as a symbolic warning to the Indian authorities that they could not take away Punjab’s electricity to other states
Meanwhile Indian authorities have stepped up patrolling on the canals taking water to Haryana and Rajasthan The Army and the Border Security Force is being entrusted with the task to frustrate further militant attempts at breaching the canals.
The militant attempts on the canals so far had made no significant dent in the supply system except for the latest broach in the Indira Gandhi canal catering to Rajasthan which will take about a week for Indian engineers to repair.
