COLOMBO: India Friday lodged a protest with the Sri Lankan government for ordering expulsion of the Colombo correspondent of All India Radio (AIR), a Karuppas warny.

In a protest now handed over to the Sri Lankan foreign ministry, the Indian High Commission expressed surprise over the govt is action in asking Karuppaswamy to leave the Island.

The note, handed over by a senior official of the high commission, said that both Air and Doordarshan (Indias national TV) had retracted the story broadcast on October 15 that Sri Lanka parliament speaker MH Mohamed had sent his resignation to President Ramasinghe Premadasa.

The note said it was not uncommon for reporters to commit errors.
