JALANDHAR: Paramjit Kaur Khalra, wife of Jaswant Singh Khalra, the missing human rights activist of the Shiromani Akali Dal, has claimed that her husband is still alive and that she has witnesses to support her claim. Paramjit, who was here in connection with a protest march organized by the All India Sikh Students federation (Badal), asserted that her husband was in the custody of a Central agency working in Punjab. However, she maintained that she had full faith in the enquiry being conducted by the CBI into the disappearance of her husband on the direction of the Supreme Court.

She was accompanied by Surinder Singh Ghariala, chairman Khalra Action Committee and asserted that she had three witnesses who had seen Khalra in various police stations from October last to June this year. She said that one such witness had already been presented before the CBI, who had seen her husband at Kang police station in Amritsar district on October 13, while the other two were to be presented. She feared that the Punjab police was trying to abduct these witnesses to weaken the case.
