By A Staff Reporter AMRITSAR: The Punjab Police suffered a serious setback when one of its most infamous vigilante killers was killed in his own house in Udham Singh Nagar here on May 20th.

Santokh Kala and wife Amarjit Kaur were both killed by some unknown assailants who sprayed their home with bullets this evening.

Kala had killed numerous Sikh activists while he was appointed by the then Punjab Police Chief, Julio Riebrio as a hit man. His infamous deeds were even mentioned in the London’s Observer and The New York Times where he openly admitted that he operated with the police as an extra judicial hit man.

A former robber Kala reportedly also extorted money, kid naped people for ransom, identified Sikh freedom fighters and killed them, All this was done under police protection.

After his activities became public the police was forced to move him away from the spotlight, but still continued to employ and protect him.
