MANITOBA: Mr. Jasdey Singh Grewal is the first Sikh lawyer in Canada who has the honor of being a Life Bencher of a Law Society in Canada. A Bencher is a member of a Law Society’s Governing body. Mr. Grewal is well known in Manitoba, and holds a senior position in the Manitoba Government as a District Registrar of Land Titles office in Brandon, Manitoba. He was elected four times as a Bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba. After completing four two-year terms and serving on various committees of the Law Society, he was honored at the meeting of the Full Bench (Governing Body) on May 19. 1994 and was awarded the status of Life Bencher of the said society.
