CHANDIGARH: Justice Charn Singh Tiwana former Judge of Punjab and Haryan High Court who is also President of Punjab Human Rights Organization in a Statement here alleged that the Ferozepure jail authorities have Sinister plans against four under trials lodged there.

Justice Tiwana said that PHRO team has met the under trials Chamkaur Singh, Jagtar Singh, Ranbir Singh and Partap Singh as well as their counsel to examine them about their apprehension that they might be killed in jail. The PHRO team consisting of Mohinder Singh Jawanda, Gurghajan Singh Gill has reported that the facts and circumstances of the under trials mentioned lent weight to the apprehension that they have been marked for ill treatment and possible extermination.

In this connection Justice Tiwana added PHRO has brought to the attention of Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice and has notified the officials of the jail authorities Ferozepur.

Justice Tiwana recalled that three under trials had been killed in Sangrur jail in Oct 1987 under mysterious circumstances. PHRO President has asked the jail authorities to stop the illegal action and respects the legitimate rights of the jail inmates.

He also appealed to the public Opinion to assert itself in favor providing safeguards to the under trials.

PHRO General Secretary D.S. Gill in a representation to the Chief Justice requested him to treat the representation as an act of public interest litigation and provide due relief to the under trials.
