NEW DELHI: A two-member Indian Olympic Association (IOA) team led by Secretary-general Randhir Singh is leaving here Sunday for London to attend the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session at Birmingham next week.

Randhir Singh told PTI Saturday the team would take advantage of the trip to tie up some loose ends regarding the first Afro-Asian games now scheduled to be held in New Delhi in February/March next year.

“All the leaders of the African National Olympic Committees will be there and it will give us an Opportunity to assure the Supreme council of African National Olympic Committees that whatever the problems in the region recently India has the will ability and determination to host the games” Randhir Singh said.

He said “we will impress upon them the fact that IOA has a young band of determined workers who will see the project through successfully. We have a history and tradition of successfully organizing international sports events”.

Umrao Singh chairman of the Afro-Asian games technical committee will accompany Randhir Singh for the IOC session. There will also be officials of the Olympic Council for Asia Randhir Singh said.

The two IOC ‘members in India Raja Bhalendra Singh and Ashwini Kumar will Support India’s efforts Randhir Singh said.
