KARACHI: The third one day international between India and Pakistan was abandoned due to riots that left several people injured at the national stadium here ‘on Dec 20th.

Riots occurred in the stands after police lobbed tear gas shells in and outside the stadium after Pakistan lost three quick wickets for 28 runs in 142 overs.

Indian players Mohammad Azharuddin and Raman Lamba were hit by missiles thrown from the crowd.

Frantic appeals by Imran Khan, Javed Miandad and the authorities failed to save the situation and policemen resorted to bursting tear gas shells after the players and umpires walked off for the second time in the day. This time, vice-captain Ravi Shastri found himself the target of the frenzied ‘crowd.
