NEW DELHI (PTI): India warned Pakistan that its attempt to introduce a resolution on Kashmir in the Human Rights commission at Geneva would “only serve to distance the prospects of a fruitful bilateral dialogue.”
India’s strong reaction follows reports that Pakistan would try 10 Push through a resolution at the commission meeting on March 8.
Apart from recalling previous UN. Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, the Pakistani resolution would recommend a fact-finding mission to Jammu and Kashmir to investigate and report on the Human Rights situation there.
An external affairs ministry Spokesman said India had taken & firm stand and informed all 53member countries that this was totally unacceptable’ ‘to us and we 4 Opposing introduction of the resolution.”
Pakistan is attempting to place the situation in Jammu and Kashmir On the agenda of the commission.
