NAGPUR: The Rashtiya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghachalak, Prof Rajendra Singh, last week warned that antinational forces were trying to divide the Hindus by blowing up small issues. Addressing the annual Vijayadashami celebrations of the RSS, which also marks the 70th anniversary of its founding, Prof Rajendra Singh said the forces were “unnerved because of the Hindutva wave” which had made the “Central Government responsive to the Hindu interest.” He said these forces would try to create conflicts between the deprived classes and the middle classes and between the middleclass and the rich. Prof Rajendra Singh regretted that while 1.4 lakh villages in the country did not get pure drinking water priority was being given (o provide them with telephone connections and rekay Doordarshan programs.

The RSS chief said the corruption evil under the Rao government had reached an all-time high, Rajiv Gandhi had lost power due to a single Bofors scandal involving Rs 70 to 80 crore but in a matter of four years, this government had a number of scandals, including the securities scam and Enron involving thousands of crore to its discredit.

Rajendra Singh said the very fact that the Enron Corporation had now expressed its readiness to scale down the cost of its power project in Maharashtra by Rs 2,000 crore implied that he earlier contract, was concluded after accepting a huge pay off.
