October 30 during the struggle for restoring the Sikhs gurdwaras to Khalsa Panth, Bhai Karam Singh and Bhai Partap Singh in order to stop the train at Hassan Abdal to feed the Akali agitators, lay over the railway track and were run over. These Akali agitators were being taken as prisoners from Amritsar to Attack jail (A.D. 1922). The train had to stop and the agitators were served meals. It is a unique example of sacrifice for the sake of faith.

October 31 On this day in A.D. 1984 Sardar Beant Singh gunned down Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India to avenge the _instruction of Holy Harmandir sahib, Sri Amritsar i.e. Holy Sarovar. For the Sikh community, he is a great martyr.

November I a Punjabi newspaper ‘Gadir Di Goonj” by Gadir party, was brought out in America (A.D. 1916). (b) Sikh Gurdwaras Act of 1925 implemented from this day (A.D. 1926). (C) Punjabi Suba came into existence in A.D. 1966.

November 2 (a) Birthday of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in A.D. 1780.

November 3 Birthday of Bhai Dharam Singh (A.D. 1668). His parents were Bhai Sant Ram and Bibi Sabho, who lived at Hastnapur. He was a dedicated Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh who stood up at the second call to offer his head to be chopped off by the Guru. He remained in the company of his great master when he went to Nanded. There he breathed his last in A.D. 1708. November 4 (a) First Sikh Missionary School (Khalsa Parcharak Vidyala) was established at Tam Taran in A.D. 1908 to train Sikh missionaries.

(b) Birthday of Bhagat Nam Dev He was bor in A.D. 1271 (Samvat 1328) at village Nedsi Bamni in district Sitara (Maharashtra). His father’s name was Dam Chheti, a Chhemba by caste. As he grew older, he got involved himself in Nama (Divine Name) and became a famous Bhagat. His writings are included in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He immersed in Eternity in A.D. 1348 at Pandharpur.
