LUDHIANA: Bhai Ranjit Singh said here on Sunday shat the militancy or what is called “Sikh sangharsh” had given setback to the Sikhism and had not done any good to the same. Bhai Ranjit Singh said that the “Sikh sangharsh” was not successful as there was no control on the same and there was infiltration of looters and antisocial elements in the movement. This caused problems for the Sikhs as a whole. Answering a question, Bhai Ranjit Singh held the Central Government and the Congress responsible for the 12 years of turmoil in Punjab. The Congress was at the helm of affairs in the Center and it could not be absolved of the responsibility for the disturbances in Punjab, The government sponsored Sena’s were responsible for the killings in Punjab: This was clear from the fact that as many as 27 candidates of the Akali Dal were killed in the 1991 election and 14 members of the SGPC were killed, whereas none of the Congress candidates were killed in the 1992 Vidhan Sabha elections in Punjab.

The Jathedar was in Ludhiana to inaugurate the all India delegate session of the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle. He hoisted the “Nishan Sahib” and addressed the delegates, He reiterated the ‘demand for an all India Gurdwara Act so that all the historic Gurdwaras came within the control of the SGPC. When asked about his opinion about the leadership of Mr. Simranjit Singh Mann, the jathedar of Akal Takht said that he had regard for all the Sikh leaders, including Mr. Mann, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Mr. Gurcharan Singh Tohra. Addressing the delegates of the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Bhai Ranjit Singh called upon the Sikh youth to follow the path shown by the Gurus and give up casteism.
