MALTON: “Human Rights violation is continuing in Punjab” said Malton-Gore Bramalea Member of Parliament after his recent visit from Punjab, in a small press conference at his office last week; Malhi said that he has brought a few affidavits from the families of victims.

This includes young Sikhs, those who have been abducted by Punjab police since more than one year and yet to be traced by their family members. Malhi further reiterated that he is going to refer these affidavits to Human Rights Committee of the House.

Malhi appeared disturbed while explaining the current situation of Punjab. He narrated personal experiences with Punjab Police, corruption riddled administration and public agencies. He said an ordinary constable of Punjab Police spoke to him in a very offensive language when he was trying to locate his relative’s home. Though Maihi was on personal visit to India and Pakistan, but he spoke at various press conferences and meetings with local and heard people’s grievances convey to the Premiere of Punjab and foreign Minister of India. Malhi said that apart from requesting for installing statue of Baba Nidham Singh(a freedom fighter of his hometown and request for an International Airport in Ludhiana near his native village, he pin pointed the deteriorating situation of Human Rights in Punjab, Beant Singh the premier elected by only 14% Of popular votes in Punjab heard Malhi’s requests and assured consideration Mathi explained. Malhi Said he talked about Opening of Consulate Office in Punjab with various officials including Canadian High Commission.
