CHANDIGARH, India: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has squashed Punjab Assembly Speaker, Mr. Sujit Singh Minhas’s order to disqualifying State Minister Mr. Nirmal Singh Khalon from the membership of the House. In a petition, that Mr. Kahlon filed before Justice T.S. Tewattia and Justice Agnihotri, he alleged that the issuance of a show notice and asking him to forward his reply within twenty four hours and serving of the disputed orders were patently illegal, unconstitutional and malafide on the part of the Speaker and the Chief Minister. The petitioner who was present in the court made a statement that he has not given up membership of the Shiromani Akali Dal headed by Sunjit Singh Barnala, and has not joined any other political party. D.S. Grewal who appeared on behalf of the Chief Minister and the Speaker, accepted the notice that stated that the order of the Speaker be treated as suspended.
