NEW DELHI, India: More than 1275 people from Haryana Sangharsh Samiti led by its President Devi Lal and General Secretary Mangal Sain were arrested for violating the prohibitory orders when they held a Dharna before the office of Election Commissioner in protest against the postponement of the Assembly election due alongside with Assembly elections in the States of West Bengal, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir.

The leaders criticized the Election Commissioner submitting to the pressure of the ruling party and sacrificing the democratic norms. in the country. The arrested persons were released later.

Devi Lal while addressing his party M.L.A.\s and district presidents said that he has apprehension that the Assembly elections may not be held even in June. He said that his party men would gherao the capital if these were not held as per schedule.
