TORONTO: Many Health Insurance companies excluding Blue Cross are going to increase their rates. Insurers blame losses during last year’s winter migration period, a fall in the Canadian dollar, rising U_S. heath costs and further cuts in the state paid by government health plans.
Canadian Snowbird Association’s plan will cost $876 fora 180 day trip by a single health member, age 65 10. 69, which is an increase of 50%, some of these plans are offering 15% savings for those who agree to pay the first $1,000 of medical bills.
