BANDA: Another incident of a Harijan woman being beaten up, stripped and paraded naked took place at village Int avan, under Raipura police station; the incident took place on Nov.10. According to reports received here the Gram Pradhan of In divan caught a 45yearold woman, Maiki, and beat her up badly. The pradhan tore up her clothes and dragged her down the road. When her husband, Chotelai, and son, Gorelai, came to her rescue, they 100 were beaten and abused.
‘The victim’s husband said that Maiki had ambitions of contesting the gram pradhan election while the Gram Pradhan wanted to field another Harijan woman.
The couple also alleged that the pradhan was said to be having an “illicit relationship with the other woman for several years.
Following an FIR lodged by Maiki, the pradhan was arrested and jailed.
