CANDIGARH, India, June 21, Reuter: Gunmen killed six more people and wounded 15 when they opened fire on a crowd outside a cinema in Haryana state, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported on Tuesday.

The news agency said the gunmen opened indiscriminate fire late on Monday night as people left the cinema in Pehwa, near Kurukshetra where at least 16 were killed in a bomb attack on Sunday.

Police in the State capital Chandigarh said only four deaths were confirmed. They said the attackers had thrown a bomb and opened fire after the show.

Police hunted the Pehwa gunmen for an hour after the cinema attack but failed to catch them a police spokesman said.

PTI also said at least seven people, including four militants had been shot dead in clashes in Punjab since Sunday night.

Militants fighting for an independent homeland for Sikhs in Punjab state, next to Haryana, stepped up their campaign on Sunday with the bomb explosion kin Kurukshetra.
