CALCUTTA: The Pro-Hindu BJP does not believe that its differences with the CPIM would threaten the survival and stability of the National Front government, the BJP president, Lal Kishen Advani, said here.

Advani told reporters the BJP, the CPI (M) and the National Front would follow their respective policies and “hence there was no cause for worry regarding the stability of National Front government.”

The BJP president made this comment when reporters drew his attention to the West Bengal chief minister, Jyoti Basu’s recent statement at a ruling Left Front rally on the need for consensus on some common program which would enable the left parties as well as the BJP to continue to support the government.

Advani said his party’s All India body supported the campaign of the party’s West Bengal unit against the Left Front government here on various issues.
