NEW DELHI: Militant Gurmeet Singh alias Geeta, was among four Punjab militants arrested by Delhi Police recently.
The others include Narpreet Kaur, alias Baby and Ranjeet Kaur alias Pinky, both militants. Following interrogations, the police discovered a militant hideout at Laxmi Nagar (East Delhi), from where Jamail Singh, who arranged arms for militants, was arrested. This was disclosed by Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi range) S.Ramakrishanan at a press conference. He said the militant had planned to create disturbances at public meetings here, including the proposed BJP rally. The three militants, he said, were arrested near Nanaksar Gurdwara on Wazirabad road (north east Delhi).
A police party under Inspector K.L.Meena reached the spot, and the informer helped identify the militants as they headed for the Wazirabad Bridge. They were surrounded by the police and later interrogated at the Bhajanpura police station. An automatic pistol (U.S.Colt 450 bore) was recovered from Gurmeet Singh.
