BOMBAY India A five storey residential building collapsed Saturday, killing five people and injuring 19 others, police said, Rescue workers were searching for people believed trapped in the debris of the structure in the southern port of Bombay, India’s chief commercial center. _ .
Police said there were nine families living in the 125yearold building, but it was immediately not known how many were inside when the collapse occurred a few hours before dawn,
Five people were killed and 19 Others, including five women and four children, were injured. Bombay Mayor Chagan Bhujpal said local residents told him the Collapse was caused by the recent demolition and rebuilding of an adjacent Mosque. Police said they Would file charges of negligence against the Mosque owners.
