BOMBAY: Several opposition leaders said dissolution of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly was a “political blunder”.
Addressing a press conference here, Buta Singh said this decision by the central government was against the country’s parliamentary democracy. The ruling national front government did not want Congress I or National Conference members of legislative assemblies in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, he alleged.
The former Union Minister, who is against scrapping of Article 370 of the constitution regarding Jammu and Kashmir, said that only the state assembly could scrap article 370 by passing a resolution. The kidnapping and release of Rubaiya, daughter of union home minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, was “pre-planned,” Singh said.
Buta Singh said the decision of the National Front government to introduce president’s Tule in Manipur was a big “‘conspiracy.”
The performance of the Congress 1 would be better in the forthcoming state assembly elections in all the eight states because of triangular and multi corner fights. The BJP and the Janata Dal misled the people on the Ram Janambhoomi issue during the Lok Sabha elections, he said.
