Serious differences have arisen between the Damdami Taksal and Baba Joginder Singh president of the Unified Akali Dal.

According to informed sources, the reason for their differences is that the Taksal has taken serious note of the fact that Baba Joginder Singh is getting funds from abroad in the name of the Taksal.

The Taksal has asked people to stop sending funds to the family of Sant Jamail Singh Bhindranwale and directly remit it to the Damdami Taksal.

The International Sikh Youth Federation in Canada is understood to have stopped a payment of Rs 190,00,000 to Baba Joginder Singh.

The ISYF leader Lakhbir Singh is said to have told Baba Joginder Singh that the money will only be given to him if the Damdami Taksal approves it.

On learning of this Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode approached the Taksal but it refused to agree.

On June 28 a meeting was held at the Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash in Chowk Mehta to discuss the matter. It was attended by Baba Thakar Singh, Baba Malkiat Singh and Baba Mokham Singh of the Damdami Taksal.

The Taksal leaders resented the role of the family of Sant Jamnail Singh Bhindranwale. i

They also asked Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode not to project himself or call himself the jathedar of the Akal Takhat.

They also asked the family to give the accounts of funds received by it.

The family has repeatedly denied that it has received money from abroad, but ISYF sources indicate that hundreds of thousands of rupees were sent to them.
