JALANDHAR: The district unit of ‘Kapurthala Shiromani Akali Dal received a major jolt when about half a dozen leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal deserted it and joined Akali Dal (Maan) last week under the leadership of Major Narinder Singh Jallo, a senior SAD leader of Kapurthala district. Major Jallo in a press conference here alleged that both the traditional parties of Punjab, the SAD and Congress, were not serious in finding a percent solution to the Punjab problem, Mr. Badal was trying to force an alliance with ‘anti Sikh” forces like ‘BJP while he was keeping mum about the poll alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Leftists, Major Jallo leveled serious allegations against Mr. Badal by saying that he had never raised his voice against the police atrocities on the Sikhs nor had he taken up the problems of the farmers.
