BOSTON MA: Dr. Manohar Singh Grewal President World Sikh Organization has chartered out crash program to rejuvenate the Sikh Umbrella body. He intends to clear some of the bottlencks and establish an effective communication channel with the gross-root members through the medium of World Sikh News. His approach is pragmatic and he holds out no tall promises. “There would be no secret projects” he said. He prefers to move steadily but surely and has set realistic and achievable goals.

There would be two types of funds — Trust Fund and General Fond. Trust-fund would be created out of contributions from delegate’s life members and founder members. Trust fund would serve as back up finance instrument. The routine expenditure would be met from the General Fund.

An extensive program has been chalked out to enlist new members and also to secure renewals of old members.

There is also a plan to educate Sikhs about the basic tenets of Sikhism and to promote Punjabi language

WSO will co-ordinate with all like-minded Sikh organizations for projecting proper image of Sikhs through lobbying and use Sikh talent to forge unity among the Sikhs.

W.S.O. stands for Freedom for Sikhs but is determined to achieve its objective through peaceful means Besides many other accomplishments (published in World Sikh News — 11-07-86) W.S.O can legitimately take pride in the following achievements which were made possible due to the dedicated service of Sikhs all over the world.

*Founding of W.S.O. itself was an historic event when thousands of Sikhs from all over the world got together at the Madison Square Garden in New York on July 28-1984.

Other human rights organization and U.S. Senators also participated to expose terrorist acts of the Indian govt. There it became an umbrella Sikh organization.

*W.S.O. organized numerous protest rallies at the U.N. plaza at New York Indian Embassies and other large cities of the world. It was a show of strength and unity among the Sikhs.

* After the holocaust against the Sikhs W.S.O warned against the inhuman acts perpetrated by the Government officials. Copies were sent to U.N.O and Heads of the government.

* Sikh rallies were arranged in UIS.A Canada Australia Europe to make the government representatives there aware of the cruelties of the Indian Government and to set up independent enquiry.

* A case was presented to the U.N.N.O for recognition of Sikh Nation.

* W.S.O. representatives were sent to Australia Europe and Far East
