NEW DELHI: The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) on Monday, decided to support the implementations of the Mandal Commission report on reservation of jobs for backward classes.

Presided over by the Prime Minister, Mr. P.V  Narasimha Rao, the CCPA took this decision purely on political consecrations as most of its members felt that it would be suicidal to oppose the Mandal Commission implementation or its validity at this stage.

The meeting was attended by all the members of the CCPA including the Home Minister Mr S.B. Chavan the minister for Human Resources Development Mr Arjun Singh the Defense Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar the Petroleum Minister Mr B Shankand and the Finance Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Welfare Minister,  Kesri and the law and justice minister, Reddy also attended the meeting as special invitees.
