KATHMANDU: An 11 member Nepali Congress and United Left Front Coalition ministry, headed by Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, assumed office.

This was announced by prime minister designate Bhattarai and the “supreme leader” of the Nepali Congress Ganesh Man Singh after a 90 minute audience with King Birendra at the Narayanhity Royal Palace Tuesday.

Bhattarai, who is also president of the Nepali congress said the king would administer the oath of office and secrecy to him on Thursday an auspicious day, and as prime minister, he would administer the oaths to the other ministers.

He said the list of names of the eleven ministers would be sent to the king on Wednesday.

In the new cabinet under the multi-party system after 30 years Bhattarai said four, including the prime minister would be from the Nepali Congress, three from the communist dominated ally the United Left Front and two each would be the royal nominees and independents,

The prime minister designate however, made it clear that the two independents would be selected by them.

He said after the coalition government took over, they would discuss about the provisions in the constitution and set up the proposed constitution reforms commission.
