NEW DELHI : The supreme Court will rehear on priority basis the challenge to the 470 million U S dollars Bhopal gas disaster settlement by union carbide and will fix the hearing date on November 5.

A four judge bench, presided over by the chief justice, Ranganath Mistra, directed the counsel of the two parties to be present in the court on Monday to enable it to fix the next date of hearing.

Justice Misra said the matter had to be reheard in view of death of chief justice Sabyasachi Mukharji.

He also said it would have to be reheard early as another member of the bench, justice N D Ojha would be retiring in January next.
