BRISBANE, Reuter: English cricketer lan Botham, fined for assault and offensive behavior during a flight in Australia, appeared before a preliminary inquiry into the incident by the Queensland Cricket Association (QCA),

The test all-rounder, on a three year contract with Queensland, said he was given a “fair hearing” by QCA Commissioner Ron Archer but “I don’t know what the verdict is”.

The 30minute inquiry session also heard Botham’s explanation of a dressing room brawl alleged to have occurred after a cricket match in Tasmania, The Tasmanian cricket council (TCC) is also investigating reports of the incident

Botham, smiling and relaxed, told reporters he had, “More things to worry about” than what would happen at that meeting. He did not elaborate.

An Australian court fined him 800 dollars (590 US.) earlier this week after he admitted charges of assault and offensive behavior during flight between Melbourne and Perth on March 15.
