Patna — The Bihar Government is considering a proposal to buy a bulletproof Mercedes Benz Limousine exclusively for the use of the Prime Minister, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, during his visits to Bihar, it is reliably learned.

The car, which is expected to cost around Rs 17 lakh, will have colored glass windows and windshield permitting vision from only inside, sources said.

The acquisition of such a car would spare the need for flying in a special car from Delhi every time Mr. Gandhi visits Bihar. This had been done in December when Mr. Gandhi had come here for campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Gandhi is arriving here on Saturday for a two-day tour of Bihar in connection with the election campaign. A Mercedes Benz car was ferried here by air on Friday. Soon after, it was driven to Darbhanga for the use of Mr. Gandhi on Saturday.
