Houston — Amrit Prachar was held in the Houston Gurdwara on April 21, 1985 in celebrations of VISAKHI, the Birthday of Khalsa. The main Diwan was held on April 14, when Nishan Sahib was serviced, Bhog of Akhand Paath Kirtan, lectures, children program by the students of our Punjabi School and annual fund raising was done.

For the AMRIT PRACHAR ceremony, which was held for the first time ever according to the Maryada of Sri AKAL TAKHAT SAHIB AMRITSAR, in this far flung City of Houston, Texas (U.S.A.), numerous SINGHS came by _ air from places like Yuba City, California, Chicago and Hamilton, Canada. All these places are thousands of miles away from Houston. THE PANJ PYARAS in their traditional dresses to administer KHANDE DI PAUHL, were extremely impressive. It has also been decided that Houston should become one of the regional centers to offer these services to do Amrit Prachar in the Southwestern United States.

A resource Center has also been established in Houston, wherefrom all the usual needs of Sikh families in procuring articles and literature and any other things related to understanding and practice of the Sikh religion can be serviced.
