HYDERABAD: Former Indian captain Bishan Singh Bedi has been appointed for the first time as cricket manager for the forthcoming tours of New Zealand, Australian and England during 1990.

Announcing this to newsmen after a ‘general body meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) here the Secretary, Ranbir Singh Mahendra did not give any specific reason for creating this new post for the touring Indian team.

However, when asked if it was a move to enforce more discipline in the team, he said “the BCCI has always been striving for discipline in the cricket teams.”

The Indian cricket team is to tour New Zealand in January participate in the six nation Australian Cup in Sharjah during April May and then play England sometime in July.
