AMRITSAR: The Akali Dal (Badal) last week decided to take up Smudges against the government for the alleged desecration of a gurdwara at Gujjarwal. This follows the failure of the Akalis to jointly protest on the issue. The working committee members of the party resolved here at a meeting to stage a dharna before Parliament on Dec.20 which would be preceded by similar sit in demonstrations in the districts to mobilize public opinion. Speaking to correspondents here, the party chief, Prakash Singh.

Badal, clarified that the Akalis had decided to march from the Akali Takht to Delhi and not to hold morchas, it failed as the police had arrested almost all the top Akali leaders before they could formulate any plan to organize the march, he said.
